WILD FOR WILDING. AND IN THE WILD IS OUR REDEMPTION, OUR SPIRITUAL DESTINY AND PURPOSE, OUR SACRED PILGRIMAGE INTO THE ONENESS WITH GOD THAT GIVES MEANING TO OUR VERY BEING.

Many of the Insights from Richard Dell's STARS IN OUR SOULS speak to the vital and inspiring points made by Isabella Tree in her beautiful book WILDING. Isabella Tree and her husband Charlie Burrell returned large swathes of Charlie’s ancestral estate of Knepp Castle to nature. The book is a joy, as we learn, or rather relearn, just how resilient nature can be when left to its own devices. It hardly seems likely that we can return the whole of our planet back to its natural state, but Isabella’s book helps us to understand that at least a considerable part of our planet must be allowed to ‘run wild’. Indeed, it has become a spiritual imperative for our time. Our sacred planetary environment requires it, and so does our own mental and indeed spiritual health. We grow and prosper physically and mentally and thereby spiritually when our surroundings are wild with natural and abundant life. Our planet is in need of healing, we as individuals are in need of healing, and so too are our communities, our societies, our very nation states in need of healing. We cannot exist in isolation from what is going on around us. Nature must be allowed to breathe, as must we be allowed to breathe. The natural awakening of our environment can presage the natural spiritual awakening of ourselves. It is ALL connected. ALL of creation is sacred. What we do, how we live can only be sanctified when what we do and how we live is in spiritual harmony with all that we are connected with.

WILDING by ISABELLA TREE: a book of the Earth that speaks of the Book of Life. A book of the Earth that is in spiritual harmony with the sacred awakening of our time: the awakening to the great spiritual truth that is that our journey is eternally sacred. AND WITH THIS AWAKENING, SO SHALL COME OUR SPIRITUAL HEALING OF OURSELVES, OF EACH OTHER, OF OUR COMMUNITIES AND OF OUR MOTHER EARTH, OUR HOLY GAIA.

In Wilding, Isabella Tree tells the story of the 'Knepp experiment', a pioneering rewilding project in West Sussex, using free-roaming grazing animals to create new habitats for wildlife. Part gripping memoir, part fascinating account of the ecology of our countryside, Wilding is, above all, an inspiring story of hope.

Forced to accept that intensive farming on the heavy clay of their land at Knepp was economically unsustainable, Isabella Tree and her husband Charlie Burrell made a spectacular leap of faith: they decided to step back and let nature take over. Thanks to the introduction of free-roaming cattle, ponies, pigs and deer - proxies of the large animals that once roamed Britain - the 3,500 acre project has seen extraordinary increases in wildlife numbers and diversity in little over a decade.

Extremely rare species, including turtle doves, nightingales, peregrine falcons, lesser spotted woodpeckers and purple emperor butterflies, are now breeding at Knepp, and populations of other species are rocketing. The Burrells' degraded agricultural land has become a functioning ecosystem again, heaving with life - all by itself.

Personal and inspirational, Wilding is an astonishing account of the beauty and strength of nature, when it is given as much freedom as possible.

Richard Dell's Insight 21, from STARS IN OUR SOULS

21

SPOILED

When we damage our environment, we damage ourselves.

We delve.

In the deep earth of our Earth,

We delve.

We scar.

Across rich and life-giving earths of our Earth,

We scar.

We spoil

We despoil

We blemish and blight.

Then we wonder at our pain.

As we wonder at the scars in our souls:

As One with our Earth, we become spoiled.

As One with our Earth, we are blemished and blighted.

One with our delving.

One with our scarring.

Blemished and blighted:

In our thinking.

In our feeling.

In our being.

In our souls.

One with what we have done.

Until what we have done is undone.
