MINDFULNESS AT ALTERNATIVES. SPIRITUAL AND SACRED AWAKENINGS AT ALTERNATIVES. THE HEALING OF THE SPIRITUAL QUEST AT ALTERNATIVES. THE SPIRITUAL UNFOLDMENT OF OUR SACRED PILGRIMAGES AT ALTERNATIVES.

Mindfulness reminds us, speaks to us, of the reality of the dual nature of our sacred selves, not taking into account the spiritual aspect of ourselves. We are both holy matter and eternal mind. We do well to recognise that the world outside of ourselves is also that holy matter and an d eternal mind. We also need to be reminded that this duality, and indeed trinity when we take into account the spiritual dimension, is not a discrete duality. Matter and mind are two aspects of our sacred selves, but they are not separate from each other, they cannot be isolated one from the other. There is no aspect of eternal mind that is not suffused with the realities of holy matter, Likewise there is no aspect of holy matter that is not suffused with the realities of eternal mind. But it is the mind, the spirit, the inner being of ourselves that determines how well we are to function, how we are to respond. It is with mind that we understand, that we reach out, that we ultimately embrace. Love is of the mind, and of course the spirit. Kindness also. It is our spirit and our mind that we seek to awaken. It is with our spirit and our mind that we seek to endow our existence and all of creation with true and scared spiritual meaning.

THE FIVE SPIRITUAL POWERS, THE FIVE WAYS TO AWAKEN US, SO SHALL COME OUR SPIRITUAL HEALING OF OURSELVES, OF EACH OTHER, OF OUR COMMUNITIES AND OF OUR MOTHER EARTH, OUR HOLY GAIA. SUCH IS OUR SPIRITUAL PURPOSE AND OUR SPIRITUAL DESTINY

A livestream hosted by Alternatives (Events inspiring heart, mind and soul) at St James's, Piccadilly, London.

THE FIVE SPIRITUAL POWERS

with Stephen Fulder

Thursday 2nd July 7pm.

How can we rise above anxiety, concern and the sense of helplessness, and develop trust, steadiness and inner freedom instead, qualities which contribute to our well-being and resilience, and help us to help others? The Five Powers are a tried and trusted Buddhist ‘toolkit’ to help us develop big souls and caring hearts. They are Trust, Energy, Mindfulness, Calm, and Wisdom.
Mindfulness, is already well-known, but the others are equally as important and complement and extend mindfulness. In this event we will show how they can be developed and how they can work together to transform our life. It will consist of a talk, a guided meditation and opportunities for Q & A.
The event is a launch of Stephen’s new book; ‘The Five Powers’ just published by Octopus Press.

Stephen Fulder was born in London in 1946. A graduate of Oxford University, he has a PhD in molecular biology and was a lecturer at London University. He is also an expert in herbal and complementary medicine, on which he has published

fourteen books. Stephen has been involved in dharma practice since 1975.

He has spent years in India, and has been guided by a variety of teachers from India, Burma, and the West. He has been teaching mindful meditation for a quarter of a century, mostly in Israel.

He is also the founder and senior teacher of Tovana, the Israeli Insight Meditation Society, the largest organisation of its kind in Israel, which has brought mindfulness, Vipassana meditation, and dharma teachings to tens of thousands of participants.

LORDS OF OUR OWN DANCE

We have little freewill when it comes to the world external to ourselves. It is in our inner world where freewill can reign. And it is the state of our inner world, while it cannot command, that can at least ‘colour’ that world which is without.

That which is without us, we can sometimes touch.

That which is not us, we can sometimes be.

That which is without, can sometimes touch us,

That which is not us, can sometimes be us.

We touch, but cannot always hold.

We are held, but are not always touched.

We are Lords of our own dance, but not of those dances without.

In those dances without,

We dance to the tunes of a myriad withouts.

But our true dance is within, and we are Lord of that dance:

If we choose.

The dances without, can also be our dances within:

If we so choose.

But the dances without can be light and can be dark.

The dance of which we are Lord, is our dance alone.

Light or dark: as we choose.

We can even lighten the darkness without: if we so choose.

But we are Lord only of our own dance.
