WE CANNOT CHANGE THE SPIRIT OF THE WORLD. IT IS THE SPIRIT OF THE WORLD THAT CHANGES THE WORLD; AND US. AND THE PROFOUND SPIRITUAL TRUTH OF ALL TIME, IS THE NOW VITAL SPIRITUAL TRUTH OF OUR TIME, THAT THE SCRIPTURES WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN ARE FOR GUIDANCE AND INSPIRATION, BUT NOT FOR OBEDIENCE. WE ARE ALL UPON OUR SPIRITUAL, MYSTICAL AND INDEED SACRED PILGRIMAGE TOWARDS ONENESS WITH THE ALL, WHICH IS WHAT WE CALL GOD. THIS CAN ONLY BE REALISED WHEN WE REALISE THAT WE CAN AND MUST TRANSCEND MERE SCRIPTURE, MERE WORDS, AND MAKE MANIFEST THE SPIRITUAL TRUTH WITHIN OURSELVES.
Adherents to so many of our world’s faiths see part of their duty as being the proselytising of their faith. Such was the underlying motivation underpinning all the great missionary drives. To teach the faith, to proclaim the faith, to bring new adherents into the faith, was seen as a fundamental duty by so many. Certainly, it was believed by such missionaries that those they hoped to convert would languish spiritually, and indeed would be deprived of eternal salvation unless they were brought into the faith. Certainly, also, it was the case that huge numbers of ‘non-believers’ were drawn into faiths such as Christianity and Islam by both prodigious efforts on the part of missionaries, and also of course by the prodigious wielding of a prodigious number of swords. In our present times, many adherents of the world’s faiths believe that their particular religions need to rediscover their missionary, even messianic, zeal. However, a point that needs to be understood, is that the earlier waves of missionary activity, although visibly wielded by the missionaries or the bearers of swords, were merely reflecting the hidden, even occult, divine energies of the time. Our present time may well be responding to such divine but hidden energies in new ways. The ways of God are not for us to entirely understand. We are all caught in a blessed unfolding of the Divine itself. ‘We cannot enter the same river twice’. We can re-enter the flow of Divine unfoldment, but what it should be called, and where it might take us, is beyond our knowing. ‘Trust in the Lord’.
The most important thing for us all to understand is that new teachings, the proselytising of new or even old teachings, the awakening and reawakening of individuals and indeed entire groups of individuals and entire societies and nations, are not the consequence of mundane activities on our part. Whatever part we play, we play when we are in tune with the spiritual unfolding of the great sacred path that is enwrapped in the deep mystical Truth of the spiritual unfoldment and evolution of humanity. We can recite our ancient texts until we are hoarse, but if they are no longer in tune with the unfolding flow of the great spiritual plan for us, then our voices will not be heard. Only in the quiet of our souls, when we are ready to listen-in to the sacred and beautiful hymns of the unfolding and eternal infinity of the cosmos in which we all have our being, will we understand and be able to fully play our part in the great sacred and mystical quest that is humanity’s spiritual pilgrimage. Our destiny is not to bend, influence or control the sacred saga of our humanity, but to be part of its mystical story that is ours to live in, and enter into, in ever greater understanding. We must never see ourselves as spiritual explorers arrogantly hacking our way through the thickets of our own misunderstandings. We must forever know that we are pilgrims upon the sacred way, pilgrims who are slowly and with due humility unfolding the truth of our place as part of the ONENESS of all humanity, part of our place in the ONENESS of all who journey upon our beautiful Mother Earth, our Holy Gaia. We transcend and understand the path only when we surrender our own will to the will of the infinite eternity that is both our Mother / Father, and our child. We do not lose ourselves in that great Truth: we at last find ourselves.
The Spirit of God is not in the Word.
The Spirit of God transcends the Word.
For the Word is of Us.
And the Spirit of God is of God.
